奈良の橿原、京都八坂、知恩院前の瓜生石（うりゅういし）を調べるにあたり実に興味深い文を見た。
神武天皇一族が明石川を舟で上り、平野地区に水田を開き、一人の皇子を残して治めさせ、天皇は大和ヘ向かったという伝説があり、遥拝所碑がある。
神武天皇は宇留の宮と祀られ、10世紀の延喜式（神名の本）には宇留神社として名前が出ている。
また、奈良の春日大社の元宮がこの春日神社にあるともいわれる。

兵庫区にも平野はあるが、この春日神社のある平野とは神戸市西区平野町宮前字宇留山のこと。

創建は用明天皇2年/587年 2月15日とはっきりしている。
車で入れる坂道にずいぶん新しい社標。ここから境内脇まで車で行くことができる。 
車を停めるとこの風景。この建物は能舞台の裏側にあたる。
鬼瓦は貫禄十分
建物の切れ目で左（西）をみると石段の下に鳥居がある。こちらが正面になるのだろう。
右（東）を見ればご覧のとおり拝殿に向かって石畳が続く。能舞台の一角が見える。 
左手（西側）に小さな祠に百度石、手水舎

社殿に鳥居と灯篭、そして見事な松と女性
左右の壁に掛かっている絵はどちらも神社を描いている。 
本殿の祠を見ようと拝殿から裏に回ってみると、小さな祠がいくつも無造作に置かれていた。木でできたもの、石でできたものそして白狐も。
小さな祠たちから右上に視線を感じたのでパチリ
実に立派な覆い屋に守られてている。このような立派な覆い屋は私は未だ見たことがない

本殿後ろのドアが開いてたので、間近で見ることができた。神の居所は三つある。 
実に立派な覆い屋（南側）

本殿内から出て北側から
若宮社
最後になったが、拝殿に向かって右側にある「若宮社」祭神はわからない。推測だがここに残られた神武天皇の皇子の一人かもしれない
こうしてみればここ宇留春日神社ではそれぞれの祠がすべて覆い屋に守られている。
車で一旦道に降りて、改めて正面の鳥居の前に来た。
石段は波打っていたが存在感のあるエントランスだ。この平野の地を知って、神武東征、蘇民将来、牛頭天皇、それぞれの伝説がこのあたりに見え隠れする。
幾度となく京都、奈良へ行った折の世界とまさにリンクするのだ。我が神戸近辺にもこれからは、より深く入り込んでみる。
