今から約五百年前、大内政弘が画聖雪舟に依頼して別荘に築庭させた庭園。
雪舟禅師の逸話といえば、幼いとき涙で鼠を描いた話が有名だが、その後中国に遊学し大成した。

本堂の中から北側の雪舟庭。⊳境内図
ひんやりとした静かな本堂の中で床に座り、ぼーっとしていると時を忘れ、何とも言えない居心地の良さがあった。
室町時代大内氏のご満悦の気分が少しわかったような気がした。秋の夜にはライトアップもあるようだ。
