ロープウェイを降りて徒歩なら1時間45分、吉野の最も奥にあり、吉野山の地主神 金山毘古命 /かなやまひこのみこと を祀る。

竹林院を出てすぐのところにある上千本口駅から、奥吉野周遊ドライブウェイを走るバスに乗って奥千本口駅で降りる。
本殿はこの階段の上
境内はユネスコの世界遺産『紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道 2004年7月登録』の構成資産の一部となっている。

でもけっこう目立つし、隠れてそうってすぐわかる（笑）
この先はあまり観光客は訪れない＿
ほとんどのガイドブックにそう書いてある。確かに中千本あたりの人の多さが嘘のように、ここでは誰もいない。そしてここから先は誰とも会わなかった。
この先の「西行庵」のことを「この静けさは西行法師や芭蕉がお気に入り」と書いてある。行かずにはいられなかった。名所はちょうどこのあたり↓

そしてここが分かれ道
「左 西行庵 右 鳳閣寺」とあった
ここを芭蕉も歩かれたと思うと
このあたりから一段と厳しくなってくる。左手は崖、手すりを持たないと怖い～、足元は濡れてるし。
左手の崖につぼみのまだ固い桜が折り重なるように群生している。これが満開になればどんなにきれいなのだろう。この先緩やかに坂道は降りていく。
桜と清い水、静けさを愛した西行法師の詫び住まいの場所。そしてその侘び寂びの精神は芭蕉をも惹きつけた。
目線
は自然と前方（西側の谷）の山あいにいく。一面を桜の木が覆っている、谷底まで．．．。次回はここにタイミングを合わせて来ようと思った。
時は800年程前、鎌倉時代の初頭、西行法師が俗界を避け、この地で侘び住まいをした。
吉野山花のさかりは限りなし
青葉の奥もなほさかりにて
吉野山去年（こぞ）の
枝折（しおり）の道かえて
まだ見ぬ方の花をたずねむ
とくとくと落つる岩間の苔清水
汲みほすまでもなきすみかかな
西行
と、ここで詠んだ。
句の中にある苔清水（こけしみず）は右手奥に、今でも清水が湧き出している。西行法師を想い二度吉野を訪れた芭蕉はこう詠んだ。

浮世すすがばや

願はくば花の下にて春死なん
そもきさらぎのもち月のころ
西行 ⊳解説
と詠み、そのとおりに1190年の桜が咲くころに大阪河内郡の弘川寺で没した。まさに桜に生き、桜に死す人生といえる。

吉野は見どころたっぷりだけれど、とにかく広いっ！ バスもうまく使って体力も残しておかないと大変なことになる。そして、下山は欲張りにも別コースで。徒歩で駅まで降りたんですが、素朴な自然美が、でも足が．．．。
