ここはまさに京都の西の端。寺に向かう途中現れる巨大な仏像。
右手に苔むした石垣、そしてその上に神社、そして案内板。
ちょうどこのあたりはポンポン山（679ｍ）の斜面にあたる。
またすぐ横には
「釈迦岳」という山もあり、この釈迦岳は善峯寺 釈迦堂の本尊、石仏釈迦如来が、明治初年まで安置されていた山だという。ゆえに釈迦岳か。

善峯寺の鎮守 社殿は新品。
祠の下には布袋さん？ 三体が並んでいた 
赤い一の橋を超え、急なつづら折の坂道。
